I saw a fictional movie about India in ancient times. A guy incurred a ruler's wrath over a woman they both loved and the guy was put to death by an elephant stepping on his head and crushing it to death. It was awful. You were spared seeing the actual head crush, but you heard a dreadful sound that said as much as the view would have.

I got curious. Did people in India get executed by elephants in the past? Unfortunately, I discovered they did, many. Sometimes under the instructions of their trainers, the elephants tore off the victims limbs before crushing his head. Other times, the elephants gore their victims to death.
